We told you about the latest iPhone jailbreak the other day, Blackra1n, unfortunately it was Windows only, the good news is that George Hotz has now released a Mac version.

The Mac version works in exactly the same way as the Windows version and is very easy to use.

If you want your iPhone to be unlocked to use with another carrier, don’t upgrade to 3.1.2 and do not use Blackra1n to jailbreak your iPhone as you wont be able to unlock it from your carrier.

Below is a simple guide on how to jailbreak all iPhone 2G/3G/3GS and iPod Touch 1G/2G/3G with iPhone OS 3.1.2.

• Download and install the latest version of iTunes 9.0.2 and take a backup of all your important data, if something goes bad you not at risking your life.
• As Clean firmware 3.1.2 and baseband 05.11.07 are recommended, you need to upgrade your iPhone or iPod Touch Firmware to 3.1.2 if you have not done it already.
• Open the blckra1n app and click on “make it ra1n”.
• Blackra1n will place the device into Recovery Mode and then will jailbreak the iPhone or iPod Touch.
• Once your iPhone/iPod Touch is jailbroken, it will be rebooted automatically.
• Once the device is rebooted ensure that you have an active internet connection and head over to last page of springboard and open the blackra1n app.
• Run “blackra1n” app and select the packages like “Cydia” to install on your device.
• Once you reboot your iPhone/iPod Touch you will have it jailbroken.
